Last Chance

Only a few days until we open the gates on the 18th Byron Bay Writers Festival. Authors have already been spotted around town, our office is buzzing with volunteers and the site looks amazing. If you haven’t already purchased your Festival tickets in advance we encourage you to do so now.  Already over 50% of our Feature Events have sold out. 

Feature Events

Join two men who have made a difference – award-winning documentary maker and author John Safran and social activist, Father Bob Maguire in consecutive conversations with journalist Jenny Burgess, followed by a lively Q&A session with the popular co-hosts of Triple J’s Sunday Night with Safran.

A few tickets are still available for John Safran Murder in Mississippi Live on Stage, Saturday 2 August, 6pm– 7pm at the Byron Community Centre Theatre. This is the true story of how Safran met a white supremacist, befriended his black killer and wrote a book.

Fidler - webEnjoy Richard Fidler in conversation with gifted iconoclastic US author Poe Ballantine, Friday 1 August, 5pm-6pm at the Byron Community Centre Theatre. 

Richard Clapton is a much-loved legend of Australian music, the performer and songwriter of many iconic hit songs including Deep Water, Best Years of Our Lives, Goodbye Tiger, Glory Road, Lucky Country, I am An Island, Trust Somebody, Capricorn Dancer and Girls on the Avenue. Clapton’s memoir, The Best Years of Our Lives, celebrates 40 years in the music industry. Join him in conversation with award-winning journalist and author, David Leser, Saturday, 2 August, 8pm-9.15pm, Byron Community Centre Theatre.

Don’t Miss Festival Sunday

Remember you can buy one-day passes for just $99 if you are a NRWC member ($120 for non-members). Sunday features a star-studded line-up including international guests Jeanette Winterson, Susie Orbach, Robin Hemley, David Finkel and Thando Sibanda.
